چکیده

WEISS, HARVEY R., AND MARTIN M. WINBURY. Nitroglycerin and chromonar on small-vessel blood content of the ventricular walls. Am. J. Physiol. 226(4) : 838-843. 1974.-The small-vessel blood content of the ventricular walls in anesthetized dogs was determined with 5gFe-siderophilin-labeled plasma. In the control state, the right ventricle (RV) contained 7.62 ml blood/l00 g tissue, the septum 8.17, and the left ventricle (LV) 9.69. The deep regions of LV contained more blood than the superficial regions; the apexes of all regions had a higher blood content than the bases. Seven to nine minutes after the intravenous administration of 20 pg/kg of nitroglycerin, the small-vessel blood content of the heart was slightly, but not significantly reduced. The transmural gradient of the LV was not altered significantly. Twenty minutes after chromonar, 7.5 mg/kg, the small-vessel blood content was not significantly altered, and the gradient between the superficial and deep layers was unchanged. Asphyxia significantly increased the small-vessel blood content of all regions of the myocardium, indicating a reserve of unopened capillaries. It is assumed that the gradients in blood content are representative of gradients in opencapillary density within the ventricular walls.

Measuring the Nitroglycerine-Induced Vasodilation in Carotid Arteries

Introduction: Nitroglycerin is a fast-acting drug that rapidly dilates coronary arteries and thus increases blood flow to these vessels, and increases the blood flow through the lateral vessels to low blood areas. It also reduces both end diastolic pressure and volume of the left ventricular. However, the effect of nitroglycerin on the circulation hemodynamic is not known. Caro...

Analysis of the characteristics of the flow velocity waveforms in left atrial small arteries and veins in the dog.

To clarify the characteristics of the phasic blood velocity pattern in small arteries and veins on the left atrial surface, we used our newly developed fiber-optic laser Doppler velocimeter. We intended particularly to examine the influence of atrial contraction and relaxation on velocity waveforms to obtain some insight into the nature of the mechanical force acting on the atrial intramyocardi...

Structural characterization of rat ventricular tissue exposed to the smoke of two types of waterpipe

Objective(s):this study focused on the effect of waterpipe smoke exposure toxicity on the structure of albino rat’s ventricular tissue and their recovery. Materials and Methods: Albino rats were divided into three groups: control, flavored, and unflavored. The control group was exposed to normal air while the flavored and unflavored groups were exposed to waterpipe smoke for a period of 90 days...

Regional oxygen saturation of small arteries and veins in the canine myocardium.

Oxygen saturation of small arteries and veins (20-500 micron) was determined microspectrophotometrically in the hearts of 12 pentobarbital-anesthetized open-chest dogs. Hearts were removed, quick frozen in liquid propane, and O2 saturation was determined in blood vessels on a regional basis between and within ventricular walls. No significant differences existed in arterial O2 saturation betwee...

Study of Pulsatile Non-Newtonian Blood Flow Through Abdominal Aorta and Renal Arteries Incorporating Fluid- Structure Interaction

Background: The interaction between the blood and the vessel wall is of great clinical interest in studying cardiovascular diseases, the major causes of death in developed countries. Objective: To understand the effects of incorporating fluid-structure interaction into the simulation of blood flow through an anatomically realistic model of abdominal aorta and renal arteries reconstructed from CT...
